James William Barr ("Jim"), age 68, passed away on June 8, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 25, 1956 in Beech Grove, Indiana, to parents Jerome and Margaret Barr.

Jim attended Chrysler High School in New Castle, Indiana where he participated and excelled in sports. He was on the track team; the wrestling team, where he competed in the state finals; and the football team. He was honored to go on to make the All-Conference Team in both football and wrestling. Jim was also involved in band as well as theater programs. He would go on to attend Purdue University where he played on the football team and the wrestling team for the Boilermakers.

Jim was known to be a loyal and loving husband, father, and friend who really loved his family; especially his 3 grandchildren. When his children were young, Jim coached several of their youth athletic teams.

Jim spent most of his career in building construction serving as an estimator and project manager. He enjoyed watching Purdue football and basketball, interacting with his numerous friends from high school, college, and present day. He had a love for all kinds of music and enjoyed all things creative. He had recently completed his first novel and was making plans for a sequel.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Margaret Barr; and his brother, Thomas Barr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Angelica (Angel); children, Kory Hartlep Leon and husband Rick; Brooke Hartlep Grimes and husband John; Elizabeth Barr; and Nicholas Barr and wife Mallorie; grandchildren, Madison Rice, Bradyn Dickerson, and Ava Garza; siblings, Victoria Willis, Michael Barr, Phillip Barr, Chrisopher Barr, and Lisa Moss; along with his canine buddies, Gatsby and Brody.
