James "Jim" Joseph Mahan Jr., 66, of Dallas, TX, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025, following an accident. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

Born on May 3, 1959, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jim devoted his life to the art of house painting, proudly working as a self-employed craftsman. His creativity and meticulous attention to detail brought beauty and vibrancy to countless homes, leaving behind a legacy of color and care. Outside of work, Jim found happiness in fishing, painting, building projects, and bowling with friends and family. His love for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys never faltered even though they did. His passion for life was contagious, and his laughter will echo in the memories of all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his son, James Mahan III; daughters, Kelli Schmidt (U.S. Army) and Misty Ambelang; son-in-law, Edward Schmidt (U.S. Army); and daughter-in-law, Misty Mahan.

Family was the heart of Jim's world. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren-Rene Rocha, Jonathan Smith, Caleb Mahan (U.S. Navy), Cody Mason, Kaelyn Mahan, Rylee Schmidt, and Grayson Schmidt-whose laughter and joy filled his days.

He is also mourned by his siblings, Mike Mahan, Pam Dewbery, John Mahan, and Pat Mahan as well as his mother-in-law, Mary Ambelang. Each carries forward the love, creativity, and warmth that Jim so freely gave.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jackie Mahan; his father, James Mahan; his mother, Gayle Mahan; and his sister, Sharon Mahan.

He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his joyful spirit, and his many passions. Jim will be cremated, and his loved ones encourage all who knew him to honor his memory by sharing stories of the wonderful times spent together.
