Janice Aoun

November 2, 1959 — July 7, 2024

Our beloved mother, Janice "Jan" Aoun, went home to Jesus on July 7, 2024 after a courageous battle with stage 4 breast cancer. She departed peacefully at home with her family.

Jan was born on November 2, 1959 in Wenatchee, Washington. When Jan was younger, her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and crafting. She loved running track in high school and home economics.

Jan's life really began after her two children, Melanie and Jeremy, were born. She loved being a mother, and later a grandmother. Jan volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and many other kid-related activities. She was an active volunteer and member of Sunnyvale PTA for 8 years, was involved in 100 Women of Sunnyvale, supported Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and many other organizations.

In addition to being a dedicated mother, she enjoyed her dogs, gardening, cooking, spending time with the grandkids, watching Marvel movies, attending her grandson's choir concerts, and going to plays at the Mesquite Black Box Theater. She loved to paint, travel, shop, and decorate her home for holidays, especially Christmas, and passed that enthusiasm down to her kids and grandchildren. She worshiped in many ways by listening to Christian music and going to concerts (she loved Chris Tomlin!), Bible reading, and devotions.

After moving to Texas in 2011, Jan was active in her church. She led small groups, participated in life groups, served as a coordinator and greeter in her life groups, attended First Place for Health, delivered presents for Christmas in Mexico, and Kids Games in Spain. She loved the church and sharing Christ's love with as many people as possible.

After her cancer diagnosis in 2020, Jan was determined to use it to share her love for Christ. Near the end, she received blood transfusions every few weeks. Jan prayed for every donor individually. She touched the lives of those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite the many challenges of her illness, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.

Jan embodied kindness and compassion. Her servant's heart and generosity knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of friends and family alike. Her legacy of love will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.

Jan is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred "Millie" Simpson; and her brother, John Bartz.

Jan is survived by her children, Melanie Meinhardt and husband Thomas, and Jeremy Ker and wife Lindsey; her grandchildren, McKenna, Corbin, Liam, and Logan; sister, Donna Carlson; and brother, Jerry Bartz.

Services will be held at Lakepointe Church Rockwall in the Chapel on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Jan asks that you consider becoming a blood donor to give others the life-saving treatment she received or donating to Carter Blood Care.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." 2 Corinthians 12:9
