Janice Mott

January 31, 1942 — April 28, 2024

Janice Dee Mott was born on January 31, 1942 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Dave and Jaquita Gibson. She left this earth and joined her Savior in heaven on April 28, 2024, at the age of 82. Jan gave her life to Christ at age 14 while attending church with her grandmother, Big Ma. She was a faithful member of The Crossing Baptist Church where she served in the nursery, on various committees, and the ESL program.

Jan met and married the first love of her life, Bob, a Navy Master Chief, in 1962. They were married 25 years before Bob passed away. She was a homemaker while Bob was in the Navy and later became a preschool teacher. After her retirement, Jan watched and doted over her grandchildren who were the second loves of her life. She shared books, movies, card games, many laughs, treats and most importantly an immense amount of love with all of her grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her children, Todd Mott and Tina Setser (and husband, John Setser); her grandchildren, Amber Mott, Cari DeBey (and husband, Tyler DeBey), Jacob Setser, Shelby Long (and husband, Brandon Long), Kaylee Setser, and Hannah Melone; her great-grandchildren, Landon Spence, Lawson Cork, Tanner DeBey, Claira Dee DeBey, Eleanor Long, and Theodore DeBey; her sisters, Marion Shanks (and husband, Mark Connelly), Debra Perkins (and husband, Richard Perkins); her brothers, David Gibson (and wife, Ruth Ann Johnstone), James Gibson (and wife, Hope Gibson); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her extended family, the McGriffs.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Mott; her parents; her sister, Clydia Crawford; and her brothers, Terry Gibson and Jerry Gibson.
