Janis Marie Cawthon Mitchell

Janis Marie Cawthon Mitchell, also known as Ree, passed away peacefully on May 05, 2024 at the age of 86.

Janis was born on December 12, 1937, in Dallas, Texas. She was a very social and kind-hearted individual who loved Bingo and playing the piano.

Janis had been retired from Jacksonville Texas Independent School District for several years.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Cawthon. She is survived by her children Vicki Roberts (David) of San Marcos, Tx;Roy Mitchell(Dale) of New Braunfels, Tx;Kelly Lee(Lloyd) of Athens,Tx; Kathy Lee (Murphy-Deceased) of Canton, Tx;. Janis is also survived by her brother, David Cawthon (Paula) of Rockwall, Tx; her sister Linda Ragsdale (Lanny- Deceased) of Galveston, Tx;. as well as her grandchildren Lacey Sparks,Ashley Wynn,Crystal Roberts,Cassie Roberts and Mitch Roberts, and her nieces and nephew Emily Wilkens, Amy Cawthon, Shannon Ragsdale and Mike Ragsdale. Her great-grandchildren Sloan Parker Wynn and Ivy Marie Sparks whom she enjoyed watching grow and cooking her dinners.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 10,2024 at 2:00 p.m. at New HopeMemorial Gardens in Sunnyvale, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janis' name to the Humane Society of US at humanesociety.org/donate, as she had a great love for animals.
