Jennia Emerson

April 28, 1944 — February 1, 2024

Jennia Fay Gwin Emerson, 79, passed away on February 1, 2024, in Seagoville, TX at the home of her daughter Cynthia Emerson.

Jennia was born on April 28, 1944 in Rowdy, KY, as the fourth child of Robert Woodson Gwin and Martha Watts Gwin.

Jennia attended Emmerich Manual High School, Indianapolis, IN and graduated in 1962. After her high school graduation Jennia enlisted in the United States Army. During her military career she was an Army Recruiter. Jennia was promoted to an air traffic controller at Fort Leavenworth, KS where she met her future husband Major Fredrick Q. Emerson. The couple married September 4, 1967. Jennie was honorably discharged from the United States Army in August 1968. The couple had two children, Brian and Cynthia Emerson. When Major Emerson was transferred to Dallas, TX Jennia continued her education earning a Bachelors Degree from North Texas University. Jennia began her career with the IRS as an Internal Revenue Agent. She was promoted to a Grade GS 13 before she was forced into early retirement due to Psoriatic Arthritis. After retirement Jennia began researching her family genealogy. During her research she met many cousins and other family members. She loved researching and preparing family trees, interacting with family members and preparing numerous binders containing family history. Eventually the family history became to much for her. It broke her heart when she could no longer work on her family genealogy.

Jennia was preceded in death by her parents Robert Woodson and Martha Gwin, brothers G.W.(Wayne) Gwin, J.B. Gwin, Fred Gwin, and husband Fredrick Q. Emerson.

Jennie is survived by son Brian Frederick Emerson of Jackson, KY, daughter Cynthia Diane Emerson of Seagoville, TX, grandsons Brandon Michael Packer, Drury Fletcher Corwin and Logan Ryder Works and sister Mary Elizabeth Gwin Lain, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At this time we do not know if we will have a memorial service. Interment will be at the Campbell Cemetery in Rowdy, KY.
