Jerry Kitchen, a beloved son, brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and "stranger to no one", completed his earthly journey June 10, 2026 at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom and commitment.
Born as a twin on May 13, 1946 in Williamson, West Virginia to Woodrow and Edna Marie Kitchen, Jerry spent his younger years growing up in Turkey Creek, Kentucky. Always dedicated to his siblings, mother and friends on Turkey Creek, along with the surrounding mountains and hollers, this is where he began his earthly journey growing into the person known by all who met him as the "stranger to no one". He was well known for his friendly nature and brought true joy to all who were blessed to have met him.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Jerry's loyalty, diligence and devotion to duty were exemplified in keeping with the highest traditions of the military. This is a reflection in being bestowed the honor of receiving the BRONZE STAR for his meritorious service. He carried this same loyalty, dedication and love for his country throughout his earthly journey, always embodying the spirit of resilience and perseverance.
Jerry, owner of AUTOMOTIVE ENTERPRISES, specialized in all things automotive including upholstery & trim, paint & body, restoration, customization, service and sales. His passion for all things automotive, especially antique and classic cars including the car club he founded - Texas Automotive Renaissance Club (TARC), was not only a part of his profession but a significant aspect of his life. He took great pride in his work, his work ethic and the many relationships he built throughout his career and personal life.
Jerry cherished his family. He was a beloved father to both his children, Mark & Amy. His unwavering love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as all of his family could be clearly seen and felt with each and every moment spent, no matter the time or distance. His sense of humor, kindness and warm soul left an indelible mark on everyone and will be truly missed.
In addition to his personal, military and professional pursuits and achievements, Jerry's competitive spirit was well known. He exemplified this in his love for billiards, often gathering with family and friends for a little "fun". He always enjoyed time spent outdoors as well, whether it was fun in the sun on the water, fishing, hunting or just simply "campfire time" with a cigar telling and recounting stories from his many adventures. He could tell a story like no other. Jerry enjoyed his Westerns, anything Elvis and listening to many genres of music including Country and Western, Bluegrass, Ameripolitan, Classic Rock and Gospel. Always known for sharing his love of music and his favorites with anyone that listened, he strummed an imaginary guitar like a born natural and had a dance step that many were privileged to see or experience firsthand. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, rarely did he miss watching a game. He had a fondness for dogs which were a constant source of companionship and joy. Always strong in his faith for the Lord, he is now at rest in eternal salvation.
