Jerry Tousa

Jerry Tousa, age 87, passed away on December 28, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 28, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frank Tousa and Mary Lee Vivian Mayes.

Jerry spent most of his childhood in Dallas, Texas. He, his sister and their parents lived in Galveston, Texas for a year when he was in middle school and then made the trek back to Dallas before heading out West to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Jerry started playing football and graduated from Las Vegas High. He played football and earned his undergraduate degrees from Dixie Junior College and then on to Utah State, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Education. From there he served his country in the Armed forces, as part of the counter intelligence department, July 9, 1958 to July 8, 1960. He advanced his education further by earning a Master's in Administration from the University of Texas in Austin, before he started his career as a school teacher and football coach in Texas. His career spanned over 35 years before retirement. But then he picked up where he left off as a substitute teacher and coach for 21 more years at Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah.

Jerry married Mary Lynn Stucki on March 14, 1959 in St. George, Utah. The couple had 5 children, Michael David, Jeffrey Dean, Frank Merrell, Cheryl Marie and Scott Earl.

Jerry was best known for his love of family, devotion to the Lord and church service, love of football, practical jokes, and love for reading and learning.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lynn Stucki; children & spouses, Jeffrey & Lisa Tousa of Charlotte, North Carolina, Frank & Julie Tousa of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cheryl & James Hastings of Dallas, Texas, and Scott and Amanda Tousa of Saline, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Tousa and Mary Lee Viivian Mayes; sister, Linda Lee Tousa Hargrave; son, Michael David Tousa; granddaughter, Zoe Marie Hastings.

The service for Jerry Tousa will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 10701 E Lake Highlands Drive in Dallas, Texas 75218.  A family gathering/visitation will meet at 1:00 PM prior to the service.

**At the request of Jerry, there will be no viewing**

Burial will be on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
