Jesse Dale Wood

April 3, 1953 — February 26, 2021

Jesse Dale Wood passed away on Friday, February 26th, 2021. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma in July of 2020. He battled this with an unbelievable positive attitude by making his friends, family, and healthcare workers laugh with his sense of humor.

Jesse graduated from Mesquite High School in 1971 and eventually relocated to Forney. He spent most of his adult life as a public servant for the City of Forney and Kaufman County. Jesse held many different positions such as Peace Officer, Code Compliance Officer, Animal Control, EMT Instructor, 911 Dispatcher and Treasurer of the Forney Police Association. He was most proud of his 27 years of membership as a Forney firefighter with many certifications and commendations. His honesty, diligence, progressive and uncompromising devotion, to the highest level of integrity, made him a valuable asset to the City of Forney and Kaufman County. Jesse later started a full- service fire extinguisher company in 2015, then sold it in 2020 so that he can enjoy his full retirement and spend quality time with his family and friends.

Jesse was always willing to help anyone in need and his generosity knew no boundaries. He was a man whose "storytelling" will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Jesse, the oldest of two children, was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Wood and his father, Johnny Wood of Mesquite.  He is survived by his daughter Angela Allen and husband Rod Allen of Wolfe City, his brother, Ricky wood and his wife Joan wood of Mesquite, nephew Ryan Wood, Heath Daese and wife Selkit Daese, niece Ayla Weese and partner David Cornelius. Grandchildren included Treavor Wood, Marshall Allen, Brennan Allen and one great-grandson, Miles Wood.
