Jodeci Velez

April 8, 2006 — August 2, 2023

Long Live "JoJo" Jodeci Maurice Velez, a beloved son, brother, friend, and rising star whose light shone brightly in the world. Born on April 8th, 2006 in Dallas, JoJo's magnetic personality and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him.

From a young age, JoJo exhibited an incredible work ethic and determination that set him apart. As a junior in high school, he was not only excelling academically but also pursuing his passion for welding. JoJo's dedication and commitment to his craft were evident as he earned a Welding Certificate at such a tender age.

But it was inside the boxing ring where JoJo truly found his calling. His talent and skill were undeniable, leading him to become a Boxing State Champion with numerous belts proudly displayed as testaments to his achievements. His incredible work ethic and discipline propelled him forward while his fierce determination made him an unstoppable force.

Beyond his accomplishments, JoJo will always be remembered for his kind soul and unwavering support for those around him. He was an amazing kid who selflessly helped his dad with every endeavor. Whether it was lending a hand with household chores or assisting in the community, JoJo's willingness to go above and beyond for others was inspiring.

Those fortunate enough to have known JoJo will cherish the memories of his sweetness, humor, and genuine kindness. His warm smile could melt even the coldest of hearts, and his quick wit brought laughter to every gathering. JoJo possessed a magnetic charm that drew people towards him effortlessly.

When he wasn't passionately pursuing his interests or training in the gym, JoJo found solace in the activities he loved most. Boxing allowed him to channel his energy and tap into his inner strength. Besides boxing, he enjoyed playing basketball with friends, fishing along serene lakeshores while pondering life's mysteries, immersing himself in video games that fostered camaraderie, and engaging in the satisfaction of hard labor.

JoJo's love for nature extended beyond fishing as he embraced the thrill of hunting. These activities served as outlets that allowed him to disconnect from the world momentarily and find peace amidst the chaos of life.

On August 2nd, 2023, tragedy struck when JoJo's vibrant spirit departed this world far too soon. The loss of his presence has left an immeasurable void in the lives of his devoted parents, Nancy Alvarado and Jonathan Obregon, his loving sisters, Jolene and Jeaselle, as well as a multitude of friends and family who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

To honor JoJo's memory and celebrate the impact he made during his time on Earth, services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home - Chapel in Sunnyvale. The visitation will take place on August 11th, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. JoJo's funeral service will be held on August 12th, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the same location.

Following the funeral service, JoJo will be laid to rest at New Hope Memorial Gardens in Sunnyvale. The burial ceremony will commence at 3:00 PM. His final resting place will serve as a peaceful reminder of the joy he brought into countless lives.

In these trying times of grief and sorrow, let us remember JoJo for the incredible impact he had on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Let us celebrate his life by emulating his kindness, work ethic, and unwavering determination in pursuing our own passions.
