Joe Cobb

September 23, 1936 — November 30, 2023

Joe was born in Ft Worth, Tx on September 23, 1936. At 87 years old, he went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2023. He was the fourth child of five to John William Cobb and Ruby Susan Wilson Cobb. Most of his young life was spent in Corpus Christi, TX, where his father was a professor at University of Corpus Christi, which is now Texas A&M at Corpus Christi.

Joe married the love of his life, Nancy Gayle Wuethrich on Oct 13, 1956. They had a very loving and supporting marriage for 59 years, and had three daughters, Cyndi Scott, Cathi Page, and Cami Conrad.

Joe was a leader in the church serving as a deacon in the Baptist Church. He had a great sense of humor. He was a giver, a man of integrity, and he had an amazing smile.

Joe graduated from UCC with a BBA. He began his career with Sun Oil, which moved him to Dallas in 1959. Unhappy with the corporate world, he took a risk and purchased Cobb Coffee Shop and later began a tree business. He operated Cobb Tree Service for 30 years before retiring.

Many have described Joe as a very kind man. His loving and tender demeanor was a strength for many to draw upon. He was the perfect "girl" dad yet was a mentor to many young teenage boys. His businesses gave him opportunity to train young men, as well.

His passions were sports and dogs. He was an outstanding player in collegiate baseball. He loved baseball and basketball. DUKE was his favorite college team, and he loved the Mavericks and the Texas Rangers. In retirement he bred AKC registered boxers.

When asked what his treasured accomplishments were, he said marrying Nancy and his 3 daughters.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nancy, and his parents Dr and Mrs. John W Cobb, and his oldest brother, Dr John Cobb.

Joe is survived by his sister in law, Nathleen Cobb; his older brother Jesse Cobb and wife, Lynda; sister Addilu Noakes; and younger brother, Jimmy Cobb, and wife, Sue and many nieces and nephews.
