John Nathan Feinglas

April 4, 1941 — March 31, 2023

John Nathan Feinglas, a man who was not only loved, adored and cherished by his family, but also by too many friends and colleagues to count, was called home to the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2023. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 4, 1941 to parents, Jerome and Mary Feinglas, he liked to tell the story of only weighing 2 pounds at birth and being so small he could fit (and sleep) in a shoebox. During those times the chances of survival were not high, but he was a fighter, and he would use that fighting spirit throughout his life to overcome that health battle along with many others.

Having lived all over the world growing up as an "Army brat", he landed in Texarkana, Texas, and met the love of his life-wife Dolores (Dee). They married and moved to Dallas where he joined the Dallas Police Department (DPD) and started a life-long career in law enforcement. The accommodations and accolades he received during his career were beyond numerous, although he was humble and never spoke of them. He spent 21 years with DPD before retiring and going to work for the Dallas Sheriff's Office for another 20 years. In addition to his work with DPD and the Dallas Sheriff's Office, he was deputized by the U.S. Marshals Service, was a liaison with the FBI and also worked with the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department.

John loved traveling, playing computer games, story telling, going through his mail and spending time with all his coffee buddies, but his greatest love of all was his family. His parents, Jerome and Mary Feinglas, preceded him in death, along with his loving wife, Dolores Feinglas, his sisters, Dee Ruth and Peggy Hardin and his brother, Jerry Feinglas. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Feinglas; son, Kevin Feinglas and wife, Levy; grandkids, Misty Feinglas, Jonna Knight & husband, Rob Knight; Jessica "Nikki" Feinglas and Junior Gallegos. He was also blessed with, and survived by, two great-grandsons, Noah Knight and Gabriel Gallegos, bonus daughter, Karen Feinglas and nephews, Jeff Feinglas, Jason Feinglas, Eric Ruth and John Ruth.
