Johnny Roy Sargent, age 73, died on Monday, July 8, 2025 at his home in Caddo Mills, TX. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Reading; and sister, Kathy Phillips. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Joy (Vincent) Sargent; children, Barry Sargent, Luke Sargent, Lisa (Sargent) Ford and Katie (Sargent) Guidry; sons-in-law, Jordan Guidry, Jason Ford; and daughter-in-law, Lynsey Sargent. Grandchildren, Ayden Sargent, Avery Sargent, Adelynn Sargent, Julian Smith, Judd Ford, Xander Ford,Caius Ford, Lonny Ford, Dax Ford, Landry Sargent, Livie Sargent,Waylon Guidry, Monreaux Guidry; sister, Linda Jimenez; as well as many additional relatives and close friends.

Johnny was born in Fort Worth, TX on May 19, 1952. He was a long time resident of Mesquite, TX and later moved to Caddo Mills, TX to be close to family. After graduating from Mesquite High School in 1971, he started his journey to become a fireman. He met his wife, Joy, through family members and they were married in 1987 at Grace Bible Church.

Johnny's career in firefighting began in Longview, TX and he went on to extend his career through the departments in Duncanville, TX and Irving, TX. He not only took pride in his role as as a fireman, but truly cherished the lifelong friendships he made during his time in service. Over the years, his expertise and reputation led him to many awards and accomplishments which ultimately earned him the rank of Lieutenant. He retired in 2012 after 30 years of dedicated service.

Johnny also had a passion for fast cars. He spent several years working alongside several different professional racing teams. He always had the need for speed. His fastest recorded speed was 208 mph at the Texas mile. In his spare time, Johnny also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending sporting events with his kids and grandkids.

Johnny and his wife Joy are members of Paradise Baptist church in Caddo Mills where he loved spreading the message of Jesus.
