On the morning of March 8th, 2025 Jorge Rafael Huertas, much adored and beloved father, passed away at the age of 76 after a courageous 20+ year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Jorge is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lupe; son, Christopher; daughter, Kimberly; and grandchildren Ayden, Hunter, and Sophia.
Jorge will always be remembered for his positive attitude, lightheartedness, generosity, and willingness to help others in need at a moment's notice.
Jorge was born in Costa Rica on December 4th, 1948 to Tobias and Austelina Huertas, one of 15 brothers and sisters. After living much of his early life in Costa Rica, he would immigrate to the United States in the early 1970's where he would proudly become a US citizen. From there, he would then meet the love of his life in 1981, Lupe, who were married in the Catholic Church Santa Monica of Dallas on February 18th, 1984. They would then go on to raise two children who he adored, Christopher and Kimberly, in the city of Mesquite, TX.
As a father, grandfather, and uncle, Jorge was outgoing, always wanting to bring joy, smiles, and enlightening experiences to the children in his family. At home, Jorge could be seen playing with his two children on the weekends, maintaining the garden, kicking the soccer ball, grilling in the backyard, or in the garage working on his classic truck; all things he loved doing. Throughout the years he would go on to play Santa Claus every Christmas for his family and hand children their gifts, coach and cheer on his son's and grandson's soccer teams, live the American Dream with his family, and spend his retirement as "Papa" watching over his three beautiful grandchildren.
Jorge always felt that one of his greatest achievements in his life was working in full-service at the Coca Cola company for over 25 years to support his family. His strong work ethic and driving prowess would lead him to a win at the 1997 Coca Cola Truck Rodeo and result in a career with many accomplishments before retiring in 2005. Friends and neighbors alike called him the Coke man during his time with company which he always found as a term of endearment.
Jorge will truly be missed by all the friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors he interacted with as he was a beacon of genuine positivity and generosity. In the words of Jorge, Pura Vida.
