Joyce Lee

February 25, 1940 — January 26, 2024

Joyce Lee, 83, passed away on January 26, 2024, in Mesquite, TX.

Joyce Lee was born on February 25, 1940 in Dallas, TX, to Wallace Hanna and Eva Hanna.

Joyce graduated from Terrell High School in 1958. Her first job was as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell right out of high school, but moved into banking in the mid 1960's. She started her career as a Teller at Terrell State Bank and went on to work for 37 years in banking. She became the sole trainer for tellers while working for Trinity Savings Loan which changed names many times while she worked there. When she retired, the bank was on its 4th name and she was working as a licensed financial planning & investments counselor for (then) Chase Bank.

Joyce married Thomas "Buddy" Lightfoot on Oct. 31st 1958 at her parent's home in Terrell, Texas. The couple had 4 children: Tommy, Tammy, Cindy, and Jennifer. After Buddy's death, Joyce met Billy Lee through Longcreek Baptist Church in Sunnyvale and they married there on May 12, 2007.

Joyce was best known for her love of playing games. She spent many hours playing cards-- canasta, hand and foot -- with her family, and with friends at the rec. center. She also spent many days traveling with her second husband, Billy, and an RV travel club. She traveled so much that her grandsons wondered if she was ever coming back to see them.

Joyce is survived by her son, Thomas Lightfoot Jr. and his wife Kim of Mesquite, TX, daughter Tammy Thorne of Mesquite, TX, daughter Cindy Dittmar and her husband Tony, of Henderson, TX and daughter Jennifer Tapp and her husband Scott of Scurry, TX, grandsons Casey Tapp of Waxahachie, TX and Jacob and Pierce Dittmar of Henderson, TX, great grandchildren Winry, Alphonse, and Lilly Tapp of Waxahachie, TX.

Joyce is preceded in death by her father Wallace Hanna, Mother Eva Hanna, first husband Thomas (Buddy) Lightfoot Sr., second husband Billy Lee, son-in-law Steve Thorne, and great-granddaughter Felicity Tapp.
