Judy Elaine Dale, born February 15, 1943, in Seagraves, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at Town East Rehabilitation Center in Mesquite, Texas.
Judy devoted her life to education and music. She served as a music teacher with the Mesquite Independent School District, inspiring generations of students through her passion, dedication, and love of music. In addition to her teaching career, Judy was the Choir Director for the Mesquite Boys Choir and an active member of the Silver Serenaders, sharing her musical talents beyond the classroom. She also faithfully served as the Director of the Pops Choir at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, where she was a devoted and longtime member.
Judy completed her undergraduate studies at North Texas State University, where she received a vocal scholarship, and later earned her Master's degree from Texas Tech University. She took great pride in her education and profession, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to fostering a lifelong love of music in the hearts of her students and fellow singers. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to education, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, and the joy she brought to others through music.
Outside of music, Judy cherished her friendships and loved spending time with friends playing games such as Keno, Bunko, and poker. She was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and loved sports. Above all, Judy loved her family and was known for always leading joyful singalongs bringing people together through music, laughter, and love.
Judy is survived by multiple generations of beloved nieces and nephews, including Donna Taylor, Diana Melcher, Hank Taylor, Woody Hassell, Karen Hawkins, Jeffrey Dale, and Nancy Rench; as well as her brother‑in‑law, Jerry Hassell. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church community, and all who were blessed to know her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Connie and Bessie Dale; her sister and brother‑in‑law, Jo and Charles Taylor; her sister, Linda Hassell; her brother, Bobby Dale; and her namesake, Judy Hassell.
At Judy's request, there will be no burial services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Silver Serenaders by sending them to the following address and noting "in memory of Judy Dale":
