"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

Our precious Kathy Ann Newland passed from her earthly home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2026, at the age of 75, in Forney, Texas.

Kathy was born on July 10, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Doris "Nell" Rasco and Gifford Rogers. She was the oldest of eight siblings-Ernest, Betty, Vicki, Debbie, Tony, Tina, and Rusty. She graduated from Forney High School in 1968 and went on to build a life centered around her children and the people she loved. Kathy spent many years working as a waitress and cashier, jobs that fit her perfectly, as she never met a stranger and truly enjoyed being around people.

More than anything, Kathy was proud of her children Biff (wife Laura), Travis (wife Tammy), and Tiffany. Her love only grew as her family did. She adored her grandchildren Cassie (husband Kody), Colton, Brionna (husband Jerrell), Daylon (wife Jordin), Katy, Alaysia, Tanner, and Taylor, along with her great-grandchildren Maddox, Alexander, Kali, Nore, Kyson, and Oakley. She treasured every moment she got to spend with those who lovingly knew her as "GINNY."

Kathy faced an 11-year battle with ongoing health issues, including peripheral vascular disease diagnosed in 2014. These challenges gradually took away her ability to work and her independence-something that was never easy for her. She was not one to sugarcoat how she felt and made sure you knew when things weren't going her way. That honesty was part of her signature spirit, often reminding everyone she was "too young to be in that nursing home."

She was lively, fun-spirited, and full of personality-she could sing, dance, and cut up with the best of them. Kathy was ornery and demanding at times, but always in a way that made you laugh. She loved a good romantic comedy and could binge-watch Netflix for hours. She enjoyed a nice perfume and never passed up her favorite sugar-free candy.

Kathy loved deeply and lived the best way she knew how, always wanting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be happy. Her pride in her family was unwavering, and her love for them was constant.

It was important to Kathy that her family knew the Lord, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and no longer suffering. We will miss her greatly-but even in our grief, we rejoice in knowing she is finally free.

A private celebration of life will be held with family and friends to honor and remember the time we shared with her.
