Katie Lou Tindall, was born April 27, 1943 in Nacogdoches, Texas and passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024 in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 81. Katie married Charles McDill on January 9, 1965, and they spent most of those 59 years residing in Mesquite, Texas.
Katie worked in data processing, was a homemaker, and provided in-home childcare before becoming an owner and operator of Rolling Hills Child Development Center. Miss Katie was beloved by countless children that she cared for throughout her life, but those who loved her most called her "Mom" or "Mimi". Those of us who were blessed to call her Mom or Mimi always knew that she was available in any way that we needed her. She was the one to get the call when we needed someone to bring lunch money or forgotten homework. She was the one who would plan a birthday sleepover that would include over 20 girls who stayed up all night. She was the one who bought plane tickets just to fly to Little Rock, Arkansas, eat dinner in the airport, and fly home to give her children the experience of flying.
Although she was never as competitive as most of the McDill family is, Katie loved to play games and work puzzles. After losing her husband, Charles, Monday nights became game nights. She loved to play 42, Skipbo, Uno, and any card game except Canasta. Game nights were definitely time well spent.
Katie lived her life loving her family every moment possible. She attended every school performance, football game, softball game, soccer game, basketball game, volleyball game, baseball game, stock show, track meet, and whatever else her kids or grandkids were a part of. If they were participating, they knew that Mom or Mimi would be there.
Katie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles McDill; her parents, Homer and Alpha Tindall; and her sisters, Joan Clifton and Judy Tindall.
Katie is survived by her children, Charla Turner and husband Joe; Paul McDill and his wife Jill; Carrie Austin and her husband Keith; as well as grandchildren, Kylee Loustaunau and husband Tonny, Chanlynn Bane and husband Justin, Caleb McDill and wife Kensley, Caden Turner, Corbyn Austin, Kyndall Austin, Tindall Turner, Noah McDill, Joshua McDill, Julia McDill; and great grandchildren, Jaci-Belle Bane, Malachi McDill, Ellie-Kate Bane, and Beckham McDill; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all greatly miss her.
