Larry was born in Dallas, Texas and resided there until his death at age 60. He attended Bryan Adams High School Class of 1979. Win or lose, Larry was the Dallas Cowboys biggest fan. Dem boyz inspired him so much he went on to be one of the greatest Mesquite Pee Wee football coaching legends of all time. Larry also coached basketball and baseball in Mesquite. Larry was all about making it great for the kids, his motto was “Go BIG or go home.”

Larry always did it big for his players, on and off the field. Larry was an incredible talent. Larry had the golden voice, was an excellent comedian, and according to the Dallas Observer would "steal the show" in his off- Broadway performances, of Rumors, Barefoot in the Park, and The Return of the Phantom of the Opera... an incredibly hilarious, popcorn tossing, parody of the original script. His role of Gretchen Gruter was a fan favorite with Larrys full on beard, blonde wig, and heavy make-up.

Larry married Carla Morran on September 4th, 1982. Together they raised 3 children, Larry Daniel (Danny), Andrew Cody (Drew), and Heather Vonnette.

Larry was predeceased by his Mother Dolores Colvin, Father Larry Bob Colvin, his older brother Matthew Colvin, Grand Parents Carl and Ruth Smith, his Aunt Linda Galletly, and his favorite quadruped, Midnight.

Larry leaves to carry on and treasure his memory and never-ending love: His wife, of 39 years, Carla Colvin Son, Larry Daniel (Danny) Colvin and his wife Mandi, and their children Larry Ethaniel and Sarah Lanae Colvin Son, Andrew Cody (Drew) Colvin and his wife Chelsea, their children Hattie Grace, Hannah Joy, and Hazel Drew Colvin Daughter, Heather Vonnette Ray and her husband Matthew, and their son, Matthew Jr. Sister, Elizabeth Koelbel and her husband Scott, And niece, Brooklyn Koelbel Sister Kimberly Schaefer, and her husband Joe, And niece, Chelsea Barbosa, Uncle Arthur Galletly, Uncle Douglas Odom, Aunt Nelda Nelson and Cousins, Alan and Paul Galletly, and their families.
