Lewis Eugene Whitacre

Lewis Eugene Whitacre, of Mesquite, Texas, was born May 8, 1945, in Roanoke, Virginia, to Richard Hale Whitacre and Frances Elizabeth Arthur. He married Morris Marie Fuller on June 10, 1967, in Sembach, Germany. He was a Lifetime member of Veteran of Foreign Wars and member of the American Legion. Lewis was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force where he served from 1963 to 1983. During those years, he received multiple awards and medals; USAF-Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with Service Star, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and a National Defense Service medal. Lewis is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Morris Marie Whitacre; children Tanya Bailey (Michael) of Forney Texas, Richard Whitacre (Carol Walker) of Rowlett TX; grandchildren Karlie Powell of Forney, TX, Tanner Julian of Ephrata, WA, Andrew Whitacre (Haley) of Rowlett, TX and Bryce Whitacre of Rowlett, TX; great-grandchildren Eden & Landon Powell, Oakley & Beaux Whitacre and Paisleigh Whitacre; brothers Richard Edward Whitacre (Becky) and Samuel Hale Whitacre (Sandy) of Roanoke, VA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lewis enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Frances Whitacre.
