Lois Marie Gambrell

Lois Marie was born on February 8, 1940 at home in Hunt County near Greenville, Texas and passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 in Dallas, Texas.

She was the youngest of 10 children and the only girl born to William Earl and Maggie Lee Carter. She and her brothers were raised on a farm where her family grew cotton and raised cattle. Lois attended Celeste High School where she graduated with honors - Class of 1958. From there she attended East Texas State University and then moved to Dallas where she worked in insurance. While living in Dallas she met Richard Leon Gambrell, fell in love and they married on March 17, 1962. In 1963 Lois and Richard together accepted Christ and continued their walk with the Lord through their 63 years of marriage. Lois worked for many years with the Treasury Department until her retirement in the year 2000.

Preceded in death by her parents William and Maggie Carter, brothers Joe, Kenneth, Howard, Billy, Dalton, Albert, Raymond, Herbert "Mutt" and Donald. She is survived by her husband Richard Leon Gambrell, their three sons Richard Earl (Rachel), John Lyle (Penny) and Paul Leon (Shannon). Grandchildren Megan, Ryan, Aaron, Brad, William, Holly, Joshua, Paul (Kristen) and Mark. Great Grandchildren Samuel and Alex and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois Marie was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her and her passing has left a void her family cannot ever fill. We find comfort in knowing her legacy will live on through the love she shared and the memories that were created.

Funeral services will be held on May 31, 2025 at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N. Belt Line Rd., Sunnyvale, Texas 75182. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Church Service following at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date.
