Lynda Brooks was met in heaven in the early morning hours of March 7th by her son David Brooks Jr., parents, Rexford Wayne and Carmen Crouch, sister and nephew, Billie and Christopher Oats. Lynda is survived by her husband of 45 years David, daughter Amber and husband Mark Baker, grandsons Christopher Brooks, Dusty and Mason Baker, sisters Cheryl Rowan, Laura Bates, brother Rusty Crouch, with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that were like family. For 28 years Lynda battled for each day after her initial sickness that took her legs from her. She was the definition of strength, determination, and grace, living each day with a smile on her face, and loving those around her with every ounce of her body. One of Lynda’s greatest joys outside of her family were her ‘school babies’. Lynda taught elementary school for 22 years before retiring and this was one of her greatest treasures. She made such a huge impact on so many of her students at such a critical time in their young lives, many of which still kept in touch with her until her death. In addition to her students, Lynda made it her mission to use her tragedies to positively impact those around her. She spoke to many groups about the strength, grit, and strong will it takes to recover from sickness, major struggles like losing a limb, or fighting thru the grief that comes from losing a child. Our earthly hearts can never understand the full purpose of God’s plan, and how he uses us to love, encourage, and support those that are walking the same steps we’ve taken, but have no doubt, when she met Jesus face to face, she heard ‘Well done good and faithful servant’. Funeral Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home; visitation Friday March 12, 6-8pm, funeral Saturday March 13, 10am, followed by burial at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
