Maria del Socorro Vega

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Vega, who passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 60. She was born on November 7, 1965, in General Francisco Murguía, Zacatecas, Mexico, and spent most of her life in Dallas, Texas.

Maria was a devoted mother, loving wife, and a woman whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She spent the majority of her life in Dallas, Texas, where she built a beautiful life centered around her family, her faith, and caring for others.

Maria was married to Jose A. Patino for more than 35 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and countless memories.

Above all else, Maria was a mother. She loved her son, Christian, and her daughter, Andrea, with all her heart. Her children were her greatest priority, and she dedicated her life to making sure they were cared for, supported, and given every opportunity to succeed. She helped guide them from elementary school all the way through college, always putting them first and making sure they had what they needed.

Maria had a natural gift for making people feel comfortable and cared for. She was the kind of person you could simply say hello to and immediately feel welcomed. She would always ask if you were okay, make sure you had what you needed, and wish you a good day. Her kindness was not something she simply spoke about. It was something she lived every day.

Maria was also an incredibly talented cook. During her career, she worked as a head chef and shared her love through the many amazing meals she prepared for her family and others. Cooking was more than a skill for Maria. It was one of the ways she expressed her love.

She enjoyed sewing and threading, cooking, learning new things, and caring for her plants. She also held a special place in her heart for the family dog, Nugget, who will always remain a cherished part of the family's memories.

Maria's Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She was a devoted woman of faith who loved our Lord and Savior and carried that faith with her throughout her life.

The greatest part of Maria's legacy will not be found in the things she owned or the places she went, but in the love she gave and the lessons she left behind. She taught her children the importance of family, compassion, faith, perseverance, and caring for others. Her children will carry those lessons with them for the rest of their lives.

Maria is survived by her husband,  Jose A. Patino; her son, Christian; her daughter, Andrea; her brothers, Benigino, Raul, and Ruben; and her sister, Lupe, along with her extended family and many friends and loved ones whose lives she touched.

We will never forget what you taught us in this life. Your love will live on through us every day.
