Manuel Lee Washington, Jr. was born on Sunday, January 13, 1974, in Denton, Texas, to Elder Manuel Lee Washington, Sr. and Brenda Kae Jackson. Over the years, he became known by many names, but one thing remained consistent-his heart, humor, and dedication to those he loved.
Manny lived a life full of rich experiences and unwavering passion. He had a love for football that carried through his school years, proudly playing cornerback for the Mighty McKinney Senior High Lions and later for the Cameron University Aggies.
He found the love of his life, Joella, and together they built a strong and loving marriage that lasted 27 years. Their union was blessed with three incredible children: Laron Burnett (Karen Renee) of Killeen, Texas, Jalen Washington (Brittney) of Ft. Drum, New York (preceded him in passing), and Jada Marie Washington (Louis) of McKinney, Texas.
Manny was a proud and devoted grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren: Louis Tubbs Jr., Nathan Burnett, and Taira Burnett.
After successfully launching his children into adulthood, Manny pursued his entrepreneurial dream. He left a 25-year career as a corporate buyer to start his own business, ISource Supply, which quickly became a success. He also embraced his lifelong passion for comedy, performing professionally as "Mr. Manny," often saying: "Practice your craft as much as you can."
Family meant everything to Manny. He loved spending time with his siblings and never hesitated to share his heartfelt opinions. His family includes sisters, Lisa Washington (McKinney, TX), Roslyn Washington (McKinney, TX), Tanyanita Washington (Oklahoma City, OK), Creasha Harris (McKinney, TX), Nicki Harris (McKinney, TX); and brothers, LaVontay Washington (Crowley, TX), Lawaylyn Harris (McKinney, TX), Broderick Harris (McKinney, TX).
He also leaves behind 13 nephews, 8 nieces, and a large extended family. In Manny's world, cousins were as close as siblings, creating a bond within the family that was deep, unique, and unbreakable.
Manny was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Nolan and Christine Goodman, and Harvey Champion and Bernice Washington; his father, Ronald Wayne Jackson; and his beloved son, Jalen Wayne Washington.
"Our brother may be in heaven, but he's always in our hearts. We miss you."
Manny's laughter, light, and love will live on in each of us. His legacy is not only in what he accomplished, but in how he made us feel-seen, valued, and loved.
