In Loving Memory of Margaret Roten

January 19, 1938 - June 5, 2025

With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Margaret Roten, a devoted wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, nurturing caregiver, and passionate gardener. She passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, Margaret lived a life rooted in kindness, patience, and quiet strength. She completed her education as a Registered Nurse with the General Nursing Council for England and Wales in 1959. She married the love of her life, Benny Roten in 1959. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. As a mother, she was a guiding light - gentle yet strong, always putting the needs of her children first with steadfast dedication.

Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. As a caregiver, she touched many lives with her compassion, empathy, and tireless support for others. Her hands were rarely still - whether tending to a loved one, offering comfort or cultivating beauty in her garden, where every flower seemed to bloom under her tender care.

Margaret found joy in life's simple pleasures: the feel of soil between her fingers, the laughter of children, a shared sweet treat, quiet moments in nature, and joy of books.

Her legacy is one of love - woven into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who carry forward her grace, strength, and generosity.

Survived by daughter, Karen Lynch and husband, Raymond; daughter, Sandra Braswell and husband, Donald; son, Steven Roten and wife, Kelly. Grandchildren Ashley Hoyt and husband, Nate; Allison Adams and husband, William; Chloe and Benjamin Braswell. Great-grandchildren Charlotte, Noah, and Logan Hoyt and Alfred Adams. Her cherished sister, Betty Grimes, of England; nieces, Dawn Allison and husband, Jim; Susan Peake; Mandy Turner; nephew, Mark Grimes and Leanne, and many loved great-nieces and great-nephews, all from England; many nieces and nephews from her American family side; and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by her dearest husband of 38 years, Benny Roten. Also preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, John and Nellie Deakin, sisters, Joan and May Deakin, and brother-in-law, Richard Grimes, all of England.

A celebration of her life will be held June 14, 2025, at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00am and the service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her giving spirit, the family kindly asks for donations to one of these charities close to her heart, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (https://rmhc-ctx.org/?form=donate) designate Bryan-College Station Family Room or Texas Oncology Foundation, Inc. (https://texasoncologyfoundation.org/support-programs/#) in Dallas, Texas. Rooted in strength, reaching out with courage, her memory a beacon of inspiration.
