Marguerite Nessman

June 25, 1936 — February 1, 2021

Marguerite “Peggy” JoAnn Nessman, 84, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021. She suffered a stroke in January 2016 and put up a good battle to give her family an additional five years. Her family was the most important thing to her and she would always say, “Friends come and go, but family is forever.”

Peggy, the youngest of two children, was born to Donald and Anna (Wick) Conner on June 25, 1936 in Superior, Wisconsin. Her mother passed in 1938 when Peggy Jo, their nickname for her, was just 20 months old. She was very close to her father, who passed in 1957, and that is why family was very dear to her.

On January 26, 1957, Peggy married Dale Roger Nessman. They had four children: Cheryll, Dawn, Paul, and Mark. Her husband worked for Western Electric and in 1958 the plant was closing and gave him an opportunity to transfer to Oklahoma City, OK, where they remained until the summer of 1971 where he was given another chance to transfer with a promotion to Mesquite, TX, where they remained for the rest of their life and raised their children. Peggy also worked for Western Electric and retired in 1994.

Peggy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and enjoyed “Granny Bible Study” every Thursday. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved to crochet, sew, and do ceramics, and made some really beautiful crafts to give family members lots of handmade holiday décor. She also loved playing cards, which is our family’s favorite pastime at gatherings, and she was quick to call out anyone distracted by their phone at the card table.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents Anna and Donald Conner, brother Gerald (Tillie) Conner, and daughter Cheryll Austin.

She is survived by her other three children Dawn (Chuck) Voss, Paul (Stacy) Nessman, Mark Nessman all of Mesquite, TX. 12 grandchildren Kandelle Wells, Aprill (Craig) Jennings, Mellinda DeSoto, and Michelle (Bret) Farrow; Kathleen Voss; Rebecca Chandler, Christopher (Kenyon) Nessman, Courtnee’ (Jeff) Hollub, and Dylan (Daniela) Nessman; Timothy (Britney) Nessman, Steven Nessman, and Marina Nessman. 15 great-grandchildren Collette, Mallory, Paul, Chandler, Tyner, Cheyenne, Madison, Chase, Caileigh, Elijah, Landon, Alessia, Addison, Victoria, and Dean (2 more on the way), 2 step great-grandchildren Kirstyn and Adam, 1 great-great-grandchild Sahara, two sister-in-laws Judy Peterson and Linda Nessman, and several nieces and nephews
