Maria "Grandma" Schmeltz

Maria "Grandma” Schmeltz, 86, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, in Forney. Maria Schmeltz was born in December 1935, to Wenceslao Carbajal and Clemencia Santoyo in Nachistlan, Zacatecas. Maria married the love of her life, Frank Schmeltz, in October 1960.

They had 3 children, Sandra, Michael, and John. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all and her compassion for others was endless.

We will miss our moments talking with her about our days and what was going on in our lives. Her support and encouragement were a blessing to us all.  We will truly miss her. 

Maria was a woman of faith and was a Parishioner of St. Martins of Tours Catholic Church. She loved to tend her flowers and cook traditional Mexican dishes for her family and friends.

Maria is survived by her children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Schmeltz, mother, father, and seven siblings.

Memorial donations can be made in Maria's name to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
