Martha Jean Cox

March 21, 1945 — June 23, 2021

Martha Jean Cox was born March 21, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Ray and Faith Cox.  She entered eternal rest on June 23, 2021.

Immediately following high school, Jean entered Nursing school with her mother.  For 54 years, she faithfully worked in several hospitals & rehabilitation facilities in the Dallas area.  Jean loved her patients just like they were one of her family members.  However, her real passion was football, especially the Dallas Cowboys.  She was a season ticket holder since 1966, and was quickly joined by her mother Faith, brother David and son Stephen.  She supported them through the good, and the bad.  Don’t talk about the Cowboys, she would let you know what she thought.  In general, Jean was a sports fan.  She would travel with David and Stephen to bowling tournaments all over Texas.  Like the Cowboys, she was their biggest supporter and the first one to say exactly what they were doing wrong.

Jean was a proud member of Oasis Church at Lakeview.  She was part of the Sisterhood and Young at Heart ministries.  At the end of last year, she fought Covid and was able to beat the disease.  Afterwards, she was on oxygen for several months and was believing for her healing so she could go to her first Sisterhood retreat this year.  One week before the retreat, she received that healing!  She was so thankful because she loved being around all of the young ladies.  She also loved doing everything she could to help others, even if it was just baking a pie for them.  She also had a passion for Southern Gospel music.  She and Stephen would travel to concerts.  But, some of the best concerts were to be had in the car as she sang right along with them!

Jean was preceded in Death by her parents, Ray and Faith Cox, brother David Cox and 2 nieces.  She is lovingly remembered by her son, Stephen McRaney, brothers Richard Cox and Wife Aurora and Michael Cox and Wife Margaret LaPlante.  6 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
