Martha Jean Nelson

October 27, 1934 — June 6, 2021

Martha Jean (Watson) Nelson was born in Dallas TX on October 27, 1934 and went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2021. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Martha grew up with two brothers, Malcolm Watson and Billy Watson, and also had three half siblings; Kathleen, Suzanne & John. She met her husband, Bobby Burton Nelson, while attending Forrest High School and they were married shortly after high school. They had four children; Pamela Kay, Bobby Burton Jr. and twins Joni & Judy. Martha Jean Nelson was a beautiful wife & mother who dedicated her life to raising her four children. She loved her grandchildren and growing number of great grandchildren. After her family, Martha's passion was gardening as she had an amazing green thumb that she lovingly passed to her children. Martha enjoyed and had a great eye for decorating and she passed this onto most of her children. She also enjoyed fishing and once even caught a 65 pound catfish. Martha loved her dogs and at times we teased her that they were her favorite child. She loved to laugh and make other people laugh. Martha was a caregiver and would try to take care of you and any problems you had. She always took care of her neighbors and even recently, when she could barely walk, would cook meals for her elderly and sick neighbors and managed to deliver it to them herself. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Houston B. Watson and Jewel Wolfe, husband, Bobby Burton Nelson, and daughter, Joni Nelson Best, as well as youngest half brother, John. Martha; faithful Christian, beloved wife, wonderful mother, friend and mentor will be missed but will live on through our hearts and our many fun and loving memories she shared with each of us.
