Mary SanJuanita DeLaGarza was born on February 24, 1951, in Mathis TX. On September 30, 1967, Mary married her husband, Paul R. Alcala in Abilene TX. They were married for more than 55 years. They both had 3 children, Cindy Berch of Sachse, Paul Anthony Alcala of Garland, and Steven Alcala of Royse City.
Mary was best known for her creativity. She loved to sew, cook, and had many friends. Mary attended school where she learned many different skills in business for many jobs she held. After working for many companies in the Real Estate Industry, her biggest passion was cooking. She loved to share her delicious cuisine with everyone she met. Mary shared her food by creating Alcala's Cocina. With Alcala's Cocina she entered the catering arena as well as having a food truck. During her time with Alcala's Cocina, she catered to many real estate companies and attended many local festivals with her food truck. Mary was a very determined person in achieving all the different goals she created. To Mary, this was not a job or work. She loved to cook and create different recipes and provide a beautiful dining experience. Mary loved to make friends with anyone she came across. She never met a stranger and always made each person feel very special. It was not unusual for Mary to help everyone with any situation they were struggling with. She always put everyone else first.
Mary is survived by Paul Alcala, husband of Garland, Cindy Berch, daughter, of Sachse, Paul Anthony Alcala, son of Garland, and Steven Alcala, son of Royse City, Chloe Alcala, granddaughter, and grandsons, Aaron Berch, Jared Berch, Ryan Berch, and great - grandson Lincoln Asher; Brothers, Antonio Jr. DeLaGarza, Ruben DeLaGarza, Ricky DeLaGarza, Danny DeLaGarza, and Gilbert DeLaGarza. Mary had a lot of nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her very much.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Micaela DeLaGarza.
The visitation for Mary Alcala will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 9:00am, following with the memorial service at 10:00am. These services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale TX.
Mary will be cremated following the memorial service where her cremains will be kept at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale TX.
