Mary Lynne Holubec

Mary Lynne Holubec died peacefully from this earthly life on Monday, May 15, 2022.

Mary was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Stroud, Oklahoma, to Hubert and Pauline Simmonds As an oil fuel brat she attended many elementary schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Colorado , only staying in 1 school until the well Dad was drilling came in. The family finally settled in Vernon, Texas and Mary graduated from Vernon High School in 1956. She attended Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University and earned "both" her Bachelor's and Masters degrees. She began her education career as a P.E. Teacher and coach of girls athletics in Abilene.

Mary married Arnold Holubec on Nov. 18, 1964 and they had two children Robert and Beverly. The family moved to Dallas in 1968 and then to Talty, Texas, in 1998.

Mary spent over 40 years as a teacher and coach. After retiring she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, working jig saw puzzles. "Mimi" spent many hours on the patio enjoying visits from kids of all ages... friends of her kids and grandkids who loved spending time with her.

She and Arnie enjoyed traveling abroad and especially visiting casinos in Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia, brother Robert and her son Robert Mitchell.

Mary was loved by her husband Arnold; daughter Beverly Burnet( husband Paul); grandchildren Jennifer and David, great grandson Issac; sister Virginia Demers (husband Pete); several nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
