Listen to Obituary

Matthew Allen Stubblefield, born August 17, 1982, and passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of forty-three. He left behind his children, Brody and Beckham, who were his "most treasured possessions."

For his earliest days, Matt was a rebel and a force of nature. He was an outstanding baseball player. He had many offer letters from Divison III schools. Matt excelled academically and was recognized as a National Merit Scholar. He had letters from Brown, Stanford, Dartmouth, and Sanford Universities to attend college.

Matt graduated from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos Texas, with a degree in Marketing. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was employed by Crestron Electrons, Inc. in Plano, Texas.

Matt left behind more than 5 years of journals written to Brody and Beckham about how to live life, girls, sports, drinking, and God. Matt's mission for Brody and Beckham was "to maximize their full potential as human beings, brothers, teammates, and husbands."

Matt journaled that the most marked characteristic he sought in friends was loyalty, kindness, and God's devotion.

Matt attended Lakepoint Church in Rockwall, Texas. You would not see Matt carry a Bible to church but in his hand was a journal for transcribing every word from Pastor Josh. With the arrival of Pastor Josh, Matt's faith, knowledge and inquisitiveness of the Bible increased seventy-fold. Matt's friends at work were all faith-based and they shared their spiritual beliefs.

As everyone shared condolence messages to the family, friends wrote..."he was selfless... we were like brothers... he helped shaped my life when I was young... I looked up to him and admired him... he had a way of making an impact without even trying".

Matt would tell each of you not to take things for granted.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Roy Stubblefield and John Donovan; his uncles, Terry Stubblefield and Tony Stubblefield; and aunt, Lisa Stubblefield.

He is survived by his beloved children, Brody and Beckham Stubblefield; his mother and father, Jack and Susan Stubblefield; grandmothers, Gerry Stubblefield and Betty Donovan; and his uncle, Richard Donovan; and many cousins.
