Mattie Conway

Mattie Lou Darby Conway, lovingly known to all as Ms Mattie, passed away peacefully at her home in Forney, Texas, on December 12, 2025, at the age of 94.

Born in Quitman, Texas, Mattie lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep love for her family and church community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard W. Conway; her sisters Mary Lucy, Tommie, and Edna; her brother Joe; and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Crawford and husband Jimmy, and Carol George; her granchildren, Justin Sanderson and wife Heather, Andrew Sanderson and wife Heather, Sara Robertson and husband Lawton, and Amanda George; and her cherished great-grandchildren Lily, Chloe, Paislea, Travis, Mattie, Cash, and Cohen.

Mattie was the co-owner and accountant of Public Auto Sales, where she was known for her strong work ethic and integrity. Her greatest devotion however was to her faith. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, bus ministry leader, pastor's wife, and was actively involved in many church ministries throughout her life. Ms Mattie will be remembered as a devoted Christian woman with a tender and compassionate heart. She exemplified 1 Peter 3:3-4, reflecting a beauty that was not outward but "the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

Services will be held at Fellowship Forney on Thursday, Decemeter 18, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.
