Obituary for Melvin Sellers

Melvin Hubert Sellers, age 90, of Forney, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026. He was born on July 3, 1935, in Rockwall, Texas to Berry and Mary Elva Sellers.

Melvin was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Linda for 34 years. Linda passed away in 2018. They loved travel and set a goal to visit every lighthouse in the Country. Any purpose was a good reason to travel and enjoy their time together.

Melvin served his country with honor in the Texas National Guard as a tank driver and was a true patriot, proud of his country and its Christian foundation. He was a Freemason for over 50 years. After many years of service, Melvin retired from Alcatel-Lucent Technologies. He was one of those amazing men who could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. Beyond traveling with Linda, he loved fishing, Ranger's baseball, and gospel music.

Melvin was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, an overcomer, and a true example of God's grace. He loved attending church and the fellowship of his Sunday school class. In his difficult last days he spoke often of how he was ready and anxious for his heavenly home.

Melvin Sellers is survived by his two sons, Melvin Wayne Sellers and Mitchel Sellers; his stepson Bobby Jock and stepdaughter Terri Rodriguez; his two brothers BW Sellers and Phillip Sellers and sister Mary Billman. And, by his very close friend Norma Petty who he greatly relied on and loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Sellers; his father Berry Sellers, his mother Mary Elva Sellers, his sister Arlene Cook, and his daughter Debra Wright.

A memorial service will be held for Melvin at the Fellowship Forney Church on Tuesday, May 12th, beginning at 1:00pm. The church is located at 417 N. Pinson Rd. in Forney, Texas 75126.
