Michael Douglas Cavin was born June 19,1954 in Longview, Texas to Daniel Eliza and Willie Jean Cavin, and passed away suddenly on September 14, 2023 at the age of 69.
Michael lived most of his young life in Mesquite, Texas. He attended North Mesquite High School and was part of the NMHS Big Blue Band playing trumpet, and a 4-year member of the school choir. After his graduation in 1973, Michael joined the United States Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman in San Diego, CA until he was honorably discharged in May of 1975.
After his service with the Navy, Michael returned to Mesquite and began a career with Southwestern Bell and later retired from AT&T as a telephone lineman. He then worked as an insurance adjuster working with major disasters to help families get through their loss. After that he worked as a car salesman at Moore's Car Corner in downtown Mesquite.
In the Spring of 2021, Michael moved to Alamo Palms Retirement Community in Alamo, Texas to be reunited with his sisters, Elizabeth and Shirley, as they cared for and watched over each other until his passing.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, surfing, boating and exploring new places whenever he had the chance; qualities he passed on through the years to his son Ben and nephew Danny.
He really loved to play Bingo, and would often work as a bingo caller. He seldom missed a night to gather and play with his friends and enjoy good times together.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Eliza Cavin; mother, Willie Jean Cavin; and brother, Daniel Eugene Cavin.
Michael is survived by his fiancé and high school sweetheart, Sally Mae Williams; son, Ben Cavin; daughter-in-law, Krysta Cavin; three grandchildren, Aliva Rose Cavin, Kennedy Mae Aiken; and Etta Pearl Irene Cavin.
He is also survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Lynn Cavin Ledesma and husband Anthony, Shirley Kay Cavin and her sweetheart Mike Malone; sister-in-law, Pam Cavin; niece, Wendy Clifford and husband Jeremy and their children Hayden, Noah, and Joshua; nephew, Daniel R. Cavin and wife Lara and their children Will and John; aunts, Joyce Cox and Reba Morgan; as well as many, many loving cousins and friends who will greatly miss him.
