Dr. Monika Thompson Hearne, 47, of Sunnyvale, Texas passed away on August 11, 2022 after 3 year long courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home and was surrounded  by her family. Monika was a passionate physician, a caring mother, and an inspiring friend to those around her.

Monika was born in Dallas, Texas on April 22, 1975 to Dianne Thompson. While attending Oakland Head-start at the age of 3, her mother Dianne was often told that her daughter was bright and gifted. She attended Skyline high school, and then received her bachelor's degree from East Texas State University. Monika dreamed of a career in medicine and went on to receive her medical doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

Monika married her high school sweetheart, Edward Hearne, and moved to Florida to carry on with her training. In 2008, Monika completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. She welcomed two baby girls during her residency, Khyral, now 16, and Khyris, now 14. When she completed her training, Monika found her way back to Texas to practice medicine, working in private practice and delivering babies at Lakepointe Medical Center in Rowlett, Texas. There, Monika served as the Department Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lake Pointe from 2014-2016. She received the Most Compassionate Doctor Award for several years of her career. Monika was able to live her dream as a practicing Ob Gyn, counseling women, practicing robotic surgery, and bringing new life into the world.

Monika lived life to the fullest. Her smile truly lit up every room and her love of life was contagious to everyone she met. Monika loved traveling, karaoke and any other opportunity to sing, and she loved her career. She connected with every patient, showed true compassion, and also true joy, often crying with families at the joyful delivery of their newborn babies.

Monika's survived by her two daughters, Khyral and Khyris. Monika was an inspiration and a light to her girls. She is also survived by her brother Marioe Thompson, her mother Dianne Thompson, and many other cousins, aunts and loved ones.
