Naomi Jane Milam

August 1, 1933 — April 26, 2021

Naomi Jane Harris Milam, 87, of Sunnyvale, Texas passed away peacefully on April 26, 2021. Jane was born on August 1, 1933 near Quitman, Texas in the community of Rock Hill, the only child to Earnest Harris and Maudie Viola Rogers Harris.

Jane grew up in the Rock Hill community until moving to Dallas in 1944 at the age of 11. After moving to Dallas, she took steel guitar lessons starting in 1945 and in 1946 played on the WRR radio station. Later, she played at the Oak Grove Church in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in January 1950 at the age of 16, then attended Draughon’s Business College and graduated in September 1950. She fell in love with the “boy down the street,” Yeuell Dean Milam. On August 3, 1951 (at the age of 18), they married and were happily married for 63 years until his death in 2014. In 1955 they had their only child, Vickie Lynn. Jane and Dean attended beauty college together and in 1960 opened a beauty shop in Farmers Branch, Texas. After deciding that was not her cup of tea, she returned to her secretarial skills and finally retired after 34 years as a medical secretary to Drs. Adwan and Morrow.

Jane and Dean loved the Lord and serving the church. They were most recently members at the Sunnyvale First Baptist Church where they enjoyed the fellowship of their many friends there.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Maudie Harris and her beloved husband, Dean in 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Cline and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Ben Bearden and wife Stevie; Nikki Reagan and husband, Kory; Chris Bearden and wife Bonnie; eight great-grandchildren, Brody and Sloan Bearden; Deegan, Isabell and Annabell Reagan; Eliza, Emmeline and Ellinor Bearden; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
