Nathalee Margaret Blackburn

Nathalee Margaret Blackburn, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in her home in Mesquite, Tx. She was born and raised on a farm in Lawton, Oklahoma. She married Samuel Nathan Blackburn on May 29, 1954. They lived in various cities during their married life including Biloxi, MS, Denison, Tx, Oklahoma City, Longview, Mesquite, and Brownsville TX and Fort Smith, AR. In addition to working in the home taking care of her family, she owned her own ceramic store and taught lessons, she was an Ordained Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she developed and taught children in the lower grades, she worked as an activity director in a nursing home and occasionally worked in the school lunchroom.

Nathalee is survived by two daughters, Linda Black and her husband Bill of Mesquite, TX and Lanita Nielsen of Lewisville, TX ; one son, Samuel Gary Blackburn and his wife Maureen of Fort Smith, AR; One sister Elsie Hill of Rogers, AR; a brother, Carl Blackburn and his wife Cindy of Lawton, OK; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Jessica, Austin, Adisen, Arabelle and Alex and nine great grandchildren, Randy, Bailey, Nathan, Hailey, Joshua, Porter, Alexis, Cadence, Bailey and Nora and one great great grandchild, Anthony. Sam and Nathalee were foster parents to 18 children.

Nathalee was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, her parents, Fred and Florence Davis and her sister Evelyn Hight.

Funeral services are at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas with burial at a later date at the Ft. Smith National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
