Nedra Manahan

February 27, 1950 — November 19, 2021

Nedra Ann Manahan, also known as "Nana" passed away on November 19, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, Tx. Nedra fought a 12 year battle with Alzheimers. She was 71 years young.

Nedra was born in Memphis, Tx on February 27, 1950 to Aaron D. & Eunice Henry. Nedra graduated in 1968 from Panhandle High School. She then attended Draughon's Business in Amarillo. Nedra met her first husband, Leon Choate and married in 1969, soon after Keri Choate was born in 1970.

Nedra worked for Texas International in Kilgore where she met the man of her dreams, Mike, married 39 years strong. Nedra and Mike met on a tennis court in 1977 and then married in 1978. They moved to Houston where Mike, Nedra, and Keri began a life together as a family. In 1979 Mike and Nedra added another daughter to the family with the birth of Kimberly Manahan. In 1982 the Manahan family moved to Dallas where Nedra started her career at Southwest Airlines. That is when she met her second family, Tina, Robert, Laurie, John, Joy and Donna, also known as "the unicorns". A true bond & beautiful friendships that will never die.

Nedra retired from SWA in 2009, where shortly after she was diagnosed with a disease that would eventually rob her remaining years.. Nedra loved traveling and spending time with her husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren and taking care of her two pugs, Max & Maisy. Shortly after Nedra's diagnosis Mike took Nedra on their final cruise to Alaska, Nedra expressed that was the most amazing journey thus for with her husband. Nedra had a beautiful soul, smile, laugh, and voice of an angel along with dance moves that kept her beyond her youth. McKenzie, Nedra's granddaughter would visit her and turn Elvis, Nedra would dance away, shoulders moving, legs gliding, doing the most outdated shuffles, but in her eyes, "hip". Kimberly would often take Nedra to the daycare where she loved seeing the children and the children loved seeing their "Nana". She would color, paint or just interact with the children, they gravitated toward her sweet spirit and smile.

Nedra is preceded in death by her husband Mike Manahan of Mesquite, Tx, Mother & Father Eunice & Aaron Henry of Panhandle, Tx. & Max & Maisy (her pugs) Nedra is survived by her children Keri Jones of Irving, Kim Rion & Cameron of Mesquite, grandchildren Jordan Roth of Lewisville, Trae Hart, McKenzie Brumfield, and Gage Rion all of Mesquite, great- grandchildren Aiden Roth and Za'Kai Hart, brother Bill Henry & Trip of Phoenix, AZ., numerous Great Aunts & Uncles, and cousins.
