Niko Laikwan Martinez Lopez

Niko Laikwan Martinez Lopez son of Raquel Martinez Lopez, passed away at the age of 22 on February 17th 2023.

He was born in San Luis Potosi, S.L.P., Mexico, on November 20th 2000, to a family of cooks beginning with both maternal grandparents, Marcos Martinez Rodriguez and Donaciana Lopez Torres. Niko's culinary talents were deeply rooted in his blood. His sister, Tita, can recall him cooking as early as 7 years old. He would watch his mom and aunts create meals in awe and hours later, his sister would look to Niko with the same wonder, watching as he grabbed random ingredients, seemingly going off of pure instinct and placing the "best dish of her life" in front of her. It is no shock that food revolved around Niko's life.

He was a cook from the age of 17, working in different cuisine restaurants from Mexican to Italian, and American. However, his love of food came from his love of connecting with people, especially his family. Food was simply the easiest vessel for Niko to connect. Niko will be remembered by the bite of love and laughter he gave to everyone.

He is survived by his mother, Raquel Martinez Lopez, and step-father Luis Muratalla. sisters; Paola Martinez Lopez, Alegandra Muratalla, and Jaqueline Muratalla; brothers, Angel Muratalla and Javier Muratalla.
