Es con profundo pesar que anunciamos el fallecimiento de Ofelia Méndez, una amada esposa, madre, abuela y miembra querida de nuestra comunidad, quien partió de este mundo el 13 de agosto de 2026, a los 67 años, por causas naturales. Nacida el 15 de abril de 1959 en San Pedro de las Colonias, COA, México, Ofelia dedicó su vida a cuidar y servir a los demás, especialmente en su papel como Especialista en Nutrición Infantil para el Distrito Escolar de Lancaster, donde impactó la vida de innumerables niños con su enfoque cálido hacia el servicio de alimentos.
A Ofelia le sobreviven su devoto esposo, Tomás Méndez, y sus amorosos hijos, Omar, José, Tomás Jr. y Victoria Méndez-Reynoso. También deja a sus queridos hermanos-Modesta Pérez, Catalina Manriquez, Víctor Pérez, Marta Pérez, Manuel Gaytán, Manuela Gaytan, Olivia Gaytan y Gabino Gaytan, Jr.-quienes siempre guardarán su memoria cerca de sus corazones. Ofelia fue una orgullosa abuela de Bella, Aaron, Jeremiah, Jocelyn, Austin, Sofía, Isabella, James, Esmeralda y Samuel, y bisabuela de la pequeña Evelyn. También le sobreviven sus nueras, María Méndez y Mina Guerrero, y su yerno, Luis Reynoso.
Ofelia era conocida por su amabilidad, resiliencia y amor inquebrantable hacia su familia. Su espíritu protector y su actitud alegre han dejado una huella imborrable en todos los que la conocieron. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ofelia Mendez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of our community, who departed this world on August 13, 2026, at the age of 67, due to natural causes. Born on April 15, 1959, in San Pedro de las Colonias, COA, Mexico, Ofelia dedicated her life to nurturing and serving others, especially in her role as a Child Nutrition Specialist for Lancaster ISD, where she impacted the lives of countless children with her warmhearted approach to food service.
Ofelia is survived by her devoted husband, Tomas Mendez, and her loving children, Omar, Jose, Tomas Jr., and Victoria Mendez-Reynoso. She also leaves behind her dear siblings-Modesta Perez, Catalina Manriquez, Victor Perez, Marta Perez, Manuel Gaytan, Manuela Gaytan, Olivia Gaytan, and Gabino Gaytan, Jr.-who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Ofelia was a proud grandmother to Bella, Aaron, Jeremiah, Jocelyn, Austin, Sofia, Isabella, James, Esmeralda, and Samuel Mendez, and a great-grandmother to little Evelyn Rodriguez. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Maria Mendez and Mina Guerrero, and her son-in-law, Luis Reynoso.
Ofelia was known for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her nurturing spirit and joyful demeanor have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a source of strength and inspiration, embodying the values of love, compassion, and community that resonated throughout her life.
Family and friends will be able to pay their respects during a public visitation at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A heartfelt funeral service will take place at Iglesia Adventista de Pleasant Grove on August 17, 2026, at 11:00 am, where we will come together to honor Ofelia's remarkable life and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Following the service, Ofelia will be laid to rest at New Hope Memorial Gardens, with burial scheduled for 1:45 pm.
The Mendez family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Ofelia's spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire many.
