Peggy Murr

September 28, 1933 — March 24, 2025

Peggy Jane Woods Walker Murr ("Mamaw") a beloved teacher, wife and mother passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 91 in Sunnyvale, Texas. She was born to a farming family on September 28,1933, in Van Zandt County. She attended Mineola High School where she met her future husband Robert Donald "Don" Walker. Peggy attended Draughon's Business College and worked as a stenographer for the Dallas Courts. She had three daughters and then triplet boys. Her husband of almost 13 years, Don was a casualty off the Vietnam war. After this, Peggy went to Dallas Baptist College to obtain her Bachelor of Education then on to East Texas State University in Commerce for her Masters in Library Science. She taught Elementary school in Dallas and Seagoville.

In May of 1976 she married L.A. Murr and joined her family with his. They were married 42 years before his passing in 2019.

As a child, she memorized Bible verses and earned pamphlets and books. These scriptures she held in her heart and mind and still quoted until her death. She had a true hunger for God's word. Her passion was studying the Bible and teaching in-depth Precept Bible studies. During her life she was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church and, at the time of her passing, a member of First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husbands Don Walker and L.A. Murr, son Bill Murr, daughter Karen and her spouse Gary Hendley, son Greg Walker, granddaughter Jocelyn Walker, her parents, sisters, brothers, their spouses, several nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Patti Murr, June and Tommy Nichols, Ann Murr Thomas, Rhonda and Dr. Ronnie Lawson, Marian and Randy Ray, Mary and Kevin Selfridge, Eddie and Tamaica Walker, Dr. Michael and Julie Walker, 27 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She lived a life of strength, prayer, faith and devotion.
