Ralph A. Clay, born May 23,1939, in Goody, Kentucky, to Allen Bertrand Clay and Alice Marie Craig, passed away on May 7, 2026.
Ralph was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Clay, who passed away in 2004, and by his sisters Billie Frasier, Dorothy Brown and Shirley May.
Having survived polio as a young child, Ralph overcame challenges that shaped his strength, resilience, and determination throughout his life. He went on to earn a Master/s degree in Business from Abilene Christian University and began his career with Western Electric, which later became AT&T, where he proudly served for 30 years before retiring.
Ralph never met a stranger. He loved conversation, was often the life of the party, and loved being surrounded by family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Barbara, and his daughter, Laura Lea Gillespie. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Chelsea (Sean) Worrell, Ryan (Monica) Marsh, Dustin Marsh, Mike (Lisa) Gillespie, and Rochelle Gillespie; as well as his cherished great-grandchildren: Kennedy Worrell, Brooklyn Worrell, Aubrey Marsh, and James Marsh. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Dean (Mike) Brown.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday May 16, 2026 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Ralph's honor.
