Rebecca Ann Bullard Davis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca Ann Bullard Davis on June 23, 2023, at the age of 88 years old. Becky, as she was lovingly known, was born July 24th, 1934, in Van, Texas, to her parents, William Eustace and Addie May (Meeks) Bullard. The youngest of five children, Becky learned to love and value education, nature, and the Lord from her parents.

Becky was valedictorian of her graduating class at Van High School in 1951. Upon graduation, she continued her education at Tyler Junior College before marrying Jerry "Ike" Vernon Davis on December 5th, 1952.

After years as a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, Becky began a career in banking with Republic National Bank in 1978 and would retire from there after more than 20 years of dedicated service. In her retirement, she enjoyed vacations, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her family, she loved the Lord Jesus and her church dearly. She was a long-time and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Meadowview in Mesquite. Becky attended church regularly throughout her life and stressed the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to her family. It is because of her faith that we have hope today she is with her Savior, healed and made whole.

Upon Becky's passing, found tucked into her Bible was a piece of paper with the statement, "Every day in every way, I want to be like Jesus," which was followed by the words of 2 Corinthians 3:18, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Becky was predeceased by a newborn daughter in 1958 and her eldest daughter, Jeri Ann Helms of Dallas, in 2018; sisters Euline Meeks, Pauline Bullard, and Inetha Bullard; and brothers Bill Bullard, Virgil Bullard, and Gene Bullard.

Becky is survived by her daughters Susan Brown and Sharon Gillaspie, both of Dallas; sons-in-law George Brown and Benny Gillaspie; grandchildren Leslie (Steven) Smith of Coppell, Dawn Brown of Berryville, VA, and Megan (Jordan) Muckway of Fort Worth; and her much-beloved great-grandson, Caleb Smith.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 1st, at First Baptist Church of Meadowview, 4346 N. Galloway Avenue, Mesquite, TX 75150. The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Creagleville Cemetery, Van Zandt County Road 1818 and 1820, Grand Saline, TX 75140.
