Richard "Rick" Odell Jackson

June 10, 1955 — November 18, 2021

Richard Odell (Rick) Jackson, age 66, gained entrance into heaven on November 18, 2021.

Rick was born on June 10, 1955, in Dallas, TX to Duane and Shirley Jackson.  He attended school in Euless, TX and Canton, TX where he graduated in 1973. He went on to attend East Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and later went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. He taught Wood Shop, Metal Shop, and Computer Technology at Caddo Mills High School and at McDonald Middle School and Agnew Middle School in Mesquite. He was also a bus driver in both Caddo Mills and Mesquite.

Rick met his future wife, Debra Casey, at a Christian Youth Event in Sulphur Springs, TX in February, 1974. They were married on December 27, 1975. They welcomed their first precious daughter, Janette, on August 7, 1981.  A second adorable daughter, Julie, joined the family on February 26, 1984.  Rick was such a devoted family man who loved nothing better than spending time with his wife and children. When his daughters were in high school, he drove their band bus and/or colorguard bus to each away game. This was such a special time for them. However, in July 2003 and October, 2009, he discovered the joy that comes from adding sons-in-law to the mix.  Now he had someone to go with him to action movies, gun ranges, and other guy events, which made Debra very happy. The best was yet to come though.  Starting in 2008, he discovered the overwhelming happiness that comes from being a grandfather when Karys, Zane, Audrey, and Ava came along.  He absolutely loved being Granddaddy to those 4.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Shirley Jackson and his sister, Sharron Webb.  He is survived by his wife, Debra, his daughters, Janette Magan (and husband, Ryan) and Julie Zoutendam (and husband, Michel), his 4 grandchildren, Karys Magan (13) and Zane Magan (10), Audrey Zoutendam (8) and Ava Zoutendam (5), his sisters, Elizabeth Calkins of Ft. Worth and Melinda Feagins of Liberty, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was an active member of C/Life, Forney and loved worshipping there. Memorials may be made at clifec.com/give.
