Robert Arnold Marsh, age 92, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1933, in Rusk, Texas.

Robert began his career at the age of 18 with Western Electric in Dallas, Texas where he worked as an electronic technician. He dedicated 32 years to the company before retiring in December 1983.

Robert loved to travel and visited many places throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He especially loved the mountains and spending time in nature. Over the years, he made many trips hunting and exploring the Rocky Mountains, traveling from Colorado all the way through Canada. This love of the outdoors was a passion he inherited from his father.

Robert also enjoyed spending his weekends exploring garage sales and flea markets, always looking for that special bargain. He developed a lifelong passion for firearms at an early age and spent many years attending gun shows, where he enjoyed buying, selling, trading, and collecting. He had an incredible knowledge of firearms and could easily recognize a rare and valuable piece. He was also a skilled negotiator and seemed to have a natural talent for making a good trade.

Robert was exceptionally talented with wood. He could take a simple block of wood and transform it into a beautiful gun stock, then finish it with professional checkering. He often took firearms he acquired through trades and used his woodworking skills to turn them into true works of art. His creativity and craftsmanship were remarkable.

In his early years, Robert developed a love for photography. He even had his own darkroom, where he developed and printed his photographs. He also photographed weddings on the side. Through the years, his camera was often close at hand, especially when it came to capturing the important moments in the lives of his family.

Robert was a devoted father who took great pride in being involved in his children's activities. He attended football practices, Scout meetings, twirling competitions, band events, and parades. Family members could often spot him walking along the streets downtown, following the band with his camera as he captured photographs of the occasion.

He was especially involved in the Boy Scouts and the Pinewood Derby. He helped his sons build their Pinewood Derby cars and even used his woodworking talents to create a large Pinewood Derby track for the boys to race on. There seemed to be no limit to what Robert could create with his hands.

Robert also served as a Sunday school teacher in his early years with his wife. He had faith in Jesus, something he shared with his Father who was a Church decan. We find comfort in knowing that he is now rejoicing with the Lord and reuniting with loved ones who went before him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Arnold Marsh and Elsie Eugene (Turner) Marsh.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lou (Case) Marsh; his four children, Arnold Eugene Marsh (Virginia), Richard Alan Marsh (Vicki), James Michael Marsh (Dana), and daughter Sabrina Louise Tyer (Greg Tyer); 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Robert will be forever remembered for his kind and generous nature, his willingness to help others, his many talents, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He was a skilled craftsman, a photographer, an outdoorsman, and a man who enjoyed discovering the next great bargain.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
