Robert Mennel Sr.

Robert Joseph Mennel Sr., a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on June 25, 2023, at the age of 49. He leaves behind a legacy of love and countless memories that will be treasured by all who knew him. Robert married Angela Rae in July 1997 in Dallas, TX and they were married for 25 years. 

Born on August 4, 1973, in Peoria, Illinois, Robert was the son of LeRoy and Jo Anne Mennel. From an early age, Robert displayed a remarkable work ethic and a natural talent for mechanical systems. These qualities would later shape his successful career as a refrigeration specialist to which he dedicated over two decades of his life.

Robert's passion for motorcycles and anything with an engine was evident to all who knew him. He found joy in riding dirt bikes alongside his children and grandchildren, creating unforgettable adventures filled with laughter and excitement. Fishing was also one of his favorite pastimes; it allowed him to relax amidst the tranquility of nature.

Robert was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's athletic pursuits and could always be found cheering them on from the sidelines. Their victories were his victories, and their happiness brought immeasurable joy to his heart. In addition to his numerous hobbies and interests, Robert had a great capacity for love and cared deeply for his family. 
He is preceded in death by his mother and father LeRoy and Jo Anne Mennel, as well as father-in-law Jimmie Shirkey and nephew Trey Arnold.

He is survived by his loving daughter Sandra and son-in-law Brandon Ragsdale of Rowlett, TX; son Robert Mennel Jr. and wife Havan of Kaufman, TX; daughter Ashley and son-in-law Anthony Aldrich of Dallas, TX; daughter Destiney Mennel and son-in-law Lane Jobe of Maybank, TX, and My Allie. Robert's grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He leaves behind Kyleigh Ragsdale, Ryder Mennel, Paisleigh Ragsdale, Brooklynn Aldrich, Jettson Aldrich, Tucker Jobe, Rynlee Mennel, and a grandson on the way.

Robert will forever be remembered by his brothers Richard Mennel and LeRoy Mennel and wife Melanie. His loving presence will also be missed by his abundance of nieces, nephews, and friends who held a special place in his heart.

A visitation service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on July 6, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the New Hope Funeral Home chapel in Sunnyvale, TX. The funeral service will take place on July 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the same location. Following the funeral service, Robert will be laid to rest at the New Hope Memorial Gardens in Sunnyvale.

Robert Joseph Mennel Sr. touched the lives of many with his warm heart and generous spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. May he rest in eternal peace.
