Robert George Poole

May 1, 1942 — February 27, 2022

Robert "Bob" Poole, 79, passed away on February 27, 2022, in Forney, TX. Bob Poole was born on May 1, 1942 in Belleville, Illinois, to Lavern and Elaine Poole. He attended Belleville Township High School. Bob was a Drum Major and eventually the M&M instructor with the Belleville Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps (1963). He served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1966-67 and the Kansas Army National Guard from 1968-1971. Bob started his career as a Regional Sales Manager and later enjoyed a second career as an Over-The-Road truck driver. He retired a few years ago and was enjoying spending time with his family. Bob married Shirley Jean Cook on November 23, 1963 in Belleville, Illinois. He was a kind and loving partner to his spouse Shirley, as well as a loving and supportive father to their three children, daughters Kimberly Kelly of Rockwall, Texas, and Kristi Robeson, of Forney, Texas, and son Mark Poole of Tomball, Texas. Bob especially loved spending time with his family. He coached all his kids' soccer teams. He had a particular affinity for the mountains and beach. His loved ones would agree that family gatherings of any size were happy times for Bob. Whether it be Thanksgiving near or far, a trip to Spring, Belleville, Boston, Branson, Baltimore, Myrtle Beach or Colorado Springs, Bob was ready to pack the suitcase and get going. Bob's hobbies and interests included golf, fishing, camping, watching football, soccer, Judge Judy, Seinfeld and anything that included Harrison Ford, as well as working outside in the yard. Many smiles were shared at his children's and grandchildren's events to include: graduations, parades, plays, sports events and shows. He was never short of advice when it came to purchases and ideas that faced his family. Riding around on his John Deere tractor was a highlight of spring. He would ride around the neighborhood mowing his families' yards and would have probably mowed for anyone else who showed interest. His grandchildren got a big kick out of him learning to text and he quickly learned to communicate everything that needed to be said with emoji's. He could approach anyone and be mistaken for a lifelong friend by the time the conversation was over. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley Poole, daughter Kimberly Kelly and son-in-law, Chip Kelly, of Rockwall, Texas, daughter Kristi Robeson of Forney, Texas, and son Mark Poole and daughter-in-law Leah Poole, of Tomball, Texas; grandchildren Hannah and Sarah Kelly of Rockwall, Texas; Christian, Thomas, Jack, Zachary, Jacob, Olivia and Violet Poole of Tomball, Texas; brother Ronald "Ron" Poole and sister-in-law Janet Poole, Little River, South Carolina, and brother Dennis "Denny" Poole, Swansea, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine; father Lavern; sister Connie, and brother Kevin. The service for Mr. Robert Poole will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home - Chapel, in Sunnyvale, Texas.
