Robert Tate

July 18, 1934 — October 3, 2023

Robert Vincent "RV" Tate was born to the late Louis David Tate and Gertie Jay Skipworth Tate on July 18, 1934 and passed away at his home on October 3, 2023 after a long battle with illness. He had 6 siblings, including the late Willard Skipworth, J.C. Skipworth, James Skipworth, Juanita Chumbley, and Nadine Baker.

RV graduated from Van Alstyne High School and, for a short time, attended the University of Texas on a football scholarship. He was a longtime resident of Mesquite, Texas where he and his wife of 72 years, Zelma Dean Tate raised 3 children, Lynn Hill, Patty Tate, and the late Veda Gene Tate Gann. They also helped to raise 2 grandchildren and hosted a foreign exchange student, Anne Louise Jones Wright with whom they maintained a relationship.

RV retired many years ago but no one who met RV could forget his passion for his work. He loved his family and was first and foremost a provider. He retired as Executive Vice-President of Beard Mechanical Contractors, where he also served on the Board of Directors. The majority of his time was spent at the Texas Instruments site. He was a member of the United Association of Pipefitters and Plumbers Local 100 for 71 years and was truly loved and highly respected by many.

RV also loved traveling with his wife, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends and watching sports on his very large TV.

He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters, grandchildren, Harold Mason, Kristi Moreno, Bert Wells III, Derek & Hilary Hill, his great-grandchildren, Parker & Jackson Wells, Ashton Hill, Beau Mason, and Ariana Moreno, and many nieces and nephews.
