Roger Steven Tacke

September 2, 1948 — January 11, 2021

Roger Steven Tacke, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at his ranch in Texas. He was the husband of Denise Austin-Tacke. They shared 33 years of marriage together. Born in Dallas, TX, he was the son of David and Ruth Tacke. He attended Hillcrest High School, UNT in Denton and West Georgia State University where he received his education and degree in Civil Engineering. He then went on to utilize his vast amount of knowledge on every continent, establishing satellite communication sites. One of his most favorite installations was in China, where he was a guest in the Imperial Palace for a short time. He loved surfing in his early years and riding and racing his motorcycles. Mostly, he had a passion for his hotrods and admired their brute and beauty. He was a very loyal member of the National Corvette Museum; a place of special memory as this was where he and Denise united in marriage and later became lifetime members. He also enjoyed being on his ranch, where he loved to tinker with machinery and be around his cattle. He is survived by his wife, Denise Austin-Tacke; step-sons Brian Cheek (wife Casey) and Jason Cheek (wife Nicole); and his beloved granddaughters, Carleigh and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents and long-life friend, Steve Sweetman. Family will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX. A graveside service will then follow at Mesquite City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
